The entire world is searching for something. They keep trying this and that because there's a void in their life they can't seem to fill. They may find peace for a short time while they do these different things, but the peace doesn't last. What are they searching for and why can't they find true peace? Simply put, no Jesus no peace.

God created this world with the knowledge that He would send His only Son to become a loving sacrifice for all the people that would ever exist. Jesus is the peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:6). Jesus is the void in your life. He is the reason you don't have a peace that lasts.

Have you ever put together a puzzle but were missing the last piece? All of that work putting it together, but you can't finish it. The last piece is what brings the peace, joy, and fulfillment of finishing the puzzle. Jesus is like that missing puzzle piece. He is the only one that can give you true peace and fulfillment.

What if you are a Christian and still don't feel this peace?

I have been there. I have done the works of the Lord, seen people get healed, saved, delivered, churches planted, etc., but still didn't have peace. How? I was doing these things without being intimately connected to the vine (John 15:5). I didn't maintain my relationship with Him.

Have you ever had a relationship where you just coasted along and didn't really do anything to work on it? Especially in marriage, you can grow stale. You don't have that same fulfilling feeling you once had whenever you see them. It's the same thing with God, if you don't spend time with Him, you won't be close to Him. If you aren't close to Him you start walking in the ways of the flesh (Galatians 5:19-21), rather than the ways of the spirit.

The ways of the spirit are what brings you "love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control" (Galatians 5:22-23). You will get the fruit of the spirit when you sow the things of the spirit. You can get this by reading the Bible, praying, following His voice, and waiting on Him. Make sure to do these things with a mindset of meditation and not just doing them as a task.

Tasks won't get you closer to the Lord, just like viewing a relationship with your spouse as a task won't get you closer to them. So many people get it wrong by praying and reading their bible as a task. The bible is the living word of God and can speak to you in new ways everyday if you let it.

Jeremiah 7:23 says "but this is what I commanded them, saying, ‘Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you will be My people; and you shall walk entirely in the way which I command you, so that it may go well for you."

God said in the Old Testament that if His people obeyed His voice everything would be okay. If they didn't obey His voice then it wouldn't. It is no different today. If you are a Christian, you have the Holy Spirit inside of you and are led by Him. He speaks to you in different ways and you are supposed to listen. If you listen to Him and obey, things will go well for you. If you don’t then it won't.

Think of it like a mother and father of a child. The parents know better than the child so they give advice so the child can stay happy. If they child doesn’t listen then they can get hurt or have issues they don't want.

Having a relationship with God will make you well. You will have peace. No Jesus no peace. With Jesus, you'll have peace.
